If you’re like me, you’re always on the search for the perfect foundation, am I right?!
I cannot tell you how many foundations I have sitting in my makeup collection. Some are great, some are not so great.
If you haven’t been Color IQ’d, I’d highly recommend it! It’s free to do at any Sephora location so definitely check it out! They take 3 images of your skin tone and “POOF” your skin is IQ’d and you can put your number into your Sephora App or on Sephora.com and it’ll help you match foundation, concealer and lip color to your skin tone! Amaze-balls right?!?!
Anyways, Emily and I found that my Color IQ is 4Y06.
I had been wanting to try Kat Von D’s Lock-It Liquid Foundation for quite a while but being that up until recently, I didn’t have a Sephora store close to me and I’d have to order it online, I didn’t want to order the wrong color and have to go back and forth making a return and buying again, etc…
So, after my Color IQ came back, we punched it into the computer and even though there wasn’t an EXACT match for me for the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation, we played around with the Color IQ a bit and found my perfect shade!
(On a side note… Did you know that Sephora is awesome at letting you try before you buy? Yes, they will give you samples or make you samples to take home before you make a purchase! Another reason why I love Sephora!)
My perfect shade ended up being Light 45 (yes, I’m a bit paste-y from winter yet). Emily made me a sample and I brought it home to try and I immediately fell in love with this foundation!
First off, a little goes a LONGGGGG way! I can tell that even if I use this foundation every single day, I won’t run out very quickly (so it’s definitely worth the investment of $35). It’s a full coverage foundation that makes my skin look amazing!
I had some spots on my face from pimples and this foundation covered them up like they weren’t even there! It definitely gives you a great complexion when it’s on.
When I apply it to my face, I use a dense brush like the M439 from Morphe and it goes on flawlessly. You could also use a beauty blender or any flat top kabuki brush as well.
(Another side note… If you were to find that this foundation is a little too much coverage for you, you can mix it on the back of your hand with some of your favorite facial moisturizer first before applying it to your face to thin it out a bit.)
This foundation is now one of my favorites because it lasts all day and gives me the full coverage I want when I want it.
After using the liquid Lock-It Foundation for about a week and LOVING it, I decided to pick up the powder Lock-It Foundation as well and I have to say… I’m IMPRESSED! When I was at Sephora buying the liquid foundation, Emily, my Sephora girl, was telling me she was wearing the powder Lock-It foundation that day and loved it! I admit, I took a good look at her face after she told me that and she could’ve fooled me because her face was flawless.
I brought it home, tried it out and decided that the powder foundation is a great addition to my collection for the days that I don’t want to use a liquid foundation or the days I just want to go light with my makeup. It still gave me awesome coverage for being a powder! I used a big fluffy brush like the E1 from Morphe to apply it.
I’ve also used the powder to set my liquid foundation when I want it to really stick to my face. Don’t use too much but a light dusting of the powder over the liquid will really seal your foundation and help with blending when you go to contour/highlight/blush!
What’s your favorite foundation? Tell me below in the comments so I can try it out!
Until next time…
